School Groups
The very successful school programme last year saw over 10,000 students enjoy our improved facilities. We’re constantly monitoring and upgrading our rental skis and snowboards to ensure students are able to learn on the best available gear. Our greatly expanded intermediate area made that essential step between beginner and all lifts snow sports experience easy and stress-free for teachers and students.

In 2007 and 2008, we built the new Porters Café, purchased a new carpet lift in the learner area, an extended snowmaking system including extensive wind fencing plus a new state of the art winch snow groomer. We were able to cater for large school groups both on and off the slopes and have the largest area in Canterbury solely dedicated to learners - making their experience safer and more enjoyable.
If we receive a confirmed booking for your group (minimum 40 students) by 30th May 2010, Porters will give your school a free 2010 Season Pass (full value $725) to be used for either by the teacher in charge or for fundraising. There is only one pass per school available. This pass not only acknowledges the tremendous amount of work teachers do in organising ski trips, but will help you become familiar with our area and give you the chance to talk to our ski school director before your trip. Season Pass applications will be sent out once we received your confirmed booking.
Accommodation is available in the Alpine Lodge at $50 for dinner/bed & breakfast, per person - contact pamela.taylor@clear.net.nz. Alternatively, contact Flock Hill Lodge has accommodation available - contact on info@flockhill.co.nz. We also have access to several transport options if your group requires transfers to the mountain, you can check these out here.
Bookings are essential to secure your preferred dates as school student numbers are limited each day to a maximum of 200 students. August and early September dates usually fill up very quickly.
We look forward to your group experiencing our facilities, and will be in touch with you shortly to discuss further.
If you require further information, please make further contact with Guy Nurse, Marketing Manager – guy@skiporters.co.nz.
Further School Group information for 2010, along with booking forms are sent to all Canterbury Schools during March.
